Successful Mass Coral Out-planting in Collaboration with Dive Centers
23rd January 2024
Our Research and Documentation team together with the Marine Operations Unit based on Curieuse Island undertook a large-scale coral out-planting initiative recently within the Curieuse Marine National Park.
This activity involved various Dive Centers and divers based on Praslin Island. The aim of the activity was geared at drastically increasing the number of coral fragments planted within the Marine Park, in line with the Authority's current involvement in the regional Coral Reef Restoration Project. Partners included Whitetip Divers and Octopus Dive Centre. With the activity being a success, the SPGA is confident that this will enhance its coral restoration objectives, allowing the Authority to meet its projected 2024 target.
